Circa 2009, Judy Zone - a Rotarian for approximately ten years at that time - began asking her friends why they did not join Rotary. In summation, the answers were: too expensive, Rotary clubs meet in the middle of the day and I can't take off work, not enough service done, no real opportunity to make friends, kinda boring!
By 2011, Judy Zone, the founder of the Millcreek Rotary Club, had convinced these naysayers to join a low cost, service, and social focused new club that met after work and was not boring - and they convinced their friends. November 2011, Rotary International chartered our club and in January 2012, we celebrated our launch. To demonstrate how different we are, our club 'gongs' in and out of our meetings to this day. It's kind of fun!
